So, I did this!

Yes! I did it! The ride was beautiful. If a bit chilly. My ColdGear was invaluable! Lots of water stops and in the last 10 miles I must have stopped every 3 to stretch. The last 5 miles was the hardest.

Everyone was there at the end. Even those that could only be there in spirit. Remember, you never really do things completely alone.

Thanks To: Mom & Dad, Becky, Jason, Julia, Liz, Molly, Ryan, Cassie, Karen, Mary, Ashley, Mara, Joel & Melissa, the entire H&M SB staff and anyone else who has touched my life in the last number of months.

I want to do it again. Go farther. Next one might be just after the new year.

Oh and Becky, thanks for getting me to jog. Never knew i could do it without injuring myself!

Free stuff!

So, I’m doing this!

Sacramento Century Challenge

So, I’m doing a metric century this weekend. (10/1/2016) I’ve been training consistently on the bike since August 1st (3 days a week). I’ve brought my old trainer, Becky, out of trainer-retirement to help me with an additional 2 core-workouts a week for the last month. I completed my first real 34 mile stretch with Liz a three weeks ago. I put in a collective 66 miles last weekend – for the first time in a couple of years. Last pre-ride workout was this evening. I’m feeling euphoric. I’m feeling strong. I am feeling ready. Time to Kick Ass and Take Names!

Why Biking Injuries and Deaths Are Spiking In the US…

I found this article on /. this morning. More often than not, in my personal experience, it is the ignorance of motor vehicle drivers that cause most incidents. However, they are right, many cyclists, especially those that race, are arrogant and seem to have an invincible air about them. Thing is, if you tangle with a motor vehicle, you are likely to loose no matter what the consequences are for the motor vehicle driver. Ride smart, ride aware!
