Atlanticus CAL (2018) 2019 V2 Scrumptious Lush – Basic Info

I’ve decided to make two of these. Mostly because of the yarn I found for it. I am working through all 4 skeins of this at once. As the color changes for each skein. I switch skeins until all of that color has been worked into the piece. I expect this to be a LONG term project as there are 4000M of yarn to work. If you count both versions it’s 8000M of yarn.

I am working towards getting in around 4-5 rows per week. There are around 116 rows to this piece. We’ll see how much I have left when I’m done!

I’ll keep updating progress with more posts.

Atlanticus CAL (2018) 2019 Passion Fruit Melt – Basic Info

I saw this as a finished work online right after the CAL was nearly finished online. I was interested because I had been working on another mandala like piece. Then saw someone who made another pattern with the Sheepjies Whirl and I fell in love with the yarn. So, I decided to make two (2)!

Estonian Dream Shawl, take one…

Got this one started! Using Artyarns Milano crimson  pattern is by Judy Marples. Not many mistakes to go back for this time. (Knock on wood)

Facebook advertising…

Something I’ve learned through observation. They don’t know yet that you have actually bought the item they are advertising to you. Good example:

I bought the Estonian Dreams pattern and yarn from Craftsy about a week ago. However, they have not stopped showing me this pattern. I welcome the day when the retailer can ‘thank’ you for being a customer by NOT pestering me again for a while. Like for year… Go away now…

Fiori Autunnali – Update

Started the first wing. Pretty happy with progress. Working flat has made the traditional knot stitch more difficult and slower. Makes me want to knit though the back loop. But doing that would make the yarn settle differently making the work look different. Keeping it traditional.

Looking back the piece had some mistakes completely due to my own in-attention to either the stitches in the piece or the pattern.

I still need to find beads for the roasted pumpkin wild silk version.

Plus I think I have someone to give this marino version to.

More later!

Fiori Autunnali – Craftsy Class by Romi Hill

This Craftsy.com class is really good for learning new things about lace. It uses a pattern called Fiori Autunnali. It’s start is really unique and the way it transitions, while a little complex, has lots of help for you in how you can rescue yourself from missteps.

I started this version of it with a nice lace merino wool. After starting the first ‘wing’ I realized some of the starting areas didn’t line up, so I’m unsure if I will finish this one. Julia is telling me I should finish it and let it be as it is. I’m inclined to agree because I have all the yarn I need to finish it. In any case this version will be beautiful.

I bought the yarn meant for the project in Roasted Pumpkin (Miss Babs Wild Silk) and another that interests me for different reasons, Buttercup (Miss Babs Mulberry Silk). I will keep an eye out for issues in my arrangement and try and find suitable beads (another new thing for me) for each. Maybe these will be State Fair entries one day.

I know one things for sure. I LOVE making lace.
